We honour and acknowledge that this territory has been home to First Nations Peoples from time immemorial. What is now known as Richmond Hill, Ontario, sits on the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas, the Credit First Nation, and the Mississauga and Chippewa Nations of the Williams Treaty. It is also part of the traditional territories of the Haudenosaunee and the Huron Wendat. Finally, we acknowledge all Nations – Indigenous and non – who live, work and play on this land, and who honour and celebrate our Mother Earth.

This land acknowledgment pays tribute to the people who were living here when other people arrived and behaved badly.
We call on each of us to think about how we interact, respect, and include each other: in customs and culture, in the economy, in government, and in our hearts.
